Fire Department

 

The New Haven and Community Volunteer Fire Department incorporated October 1948 serves a population of approximately 6200 citizens including the towns of New Haven, Hartford and the unincorporated areas of Letart. Below are some details about the NHFD:

  • 38 firefighters including:
    • Five Command Staff Officers (Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Captain, Lieutenant)
    • Four Administrative Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer)
    • One Junior Firefighter
  • Insurance Service Office (ISO) Rating: 4/4X
  • Our fire department maintains the following apparatus:
    • 2 Structural Firefighting Engines
      • Engine 63- 2007 Pierce Saber (Primary fire engine in NHVFD coverage area)
          • 1250 GPM Pump/1000 gallon tank of water
          • Seating for 6 firefighters
          • Thermal Imaging Camera
      • Engine 62- 1995 Freightliner/Smeal (Second due in our primary coverage area and Automatic/mutual aid engine)
          • 1250 Pump/1000 gallons of water
          • Seating for 5 firefighters
          • Cascade system for refilling Breathing apparatus cylinders
    • One tanker- Engine 66- 2003 Kenworth Pierce (Tanker for all structural fires, vehicle fires and brush fires)
          • Seating for 3 firefighters
          • 1250 GPM Pump/1250 gallons of water
          • Dump tank
    • One Rescue Engine
      • Rescue 64- 2000 Pierce Saber (Primary for all Motor Vehicle Accidents, Motor Vehicle Fires, Industrial Accidents)
          • Seating for 6 firefighters
          • Automobile Rescue Tools (Jaws of Life)
          • Low angle rope rescue equipment
    • One Personnel carrier-
      • Truck 60- 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 crew cab pickup truck (Personnel Carrier for all incidents)
          • Seating for 5 firefighters
          • Brush fire fighting equipment
    • One brush truck-
      • Brush 65- 1989 Chevrolet 2500 Pickup truck
          • Seating for 2 firefighters
          • 50 gallon water tank
          • Brush firefighting equipment
